CHIBOMBO PEOPLES CLIMATE ACTION TRANSFORMS LIVES: Emelia no longer burns charcoal and is economically independent
‘ My name is Emelia Chibwalu, aged 55. I joined CPCA in 2020, with a passion for trees and re-afforestation.
My journey has been exciting, challenging and quite fulfilling.
I have participated in many actions and seen many positive growth points of CPCA.
I have benefited a lot this far. I have benefited on the pass-on loans and to date, I have been able to stand on my own economically with my Kapenta, beans, rice, and vegetables business.
Tree planting has helped me to appreciate nature because I was one of the charcoal burners around my Musopelo village.
I have planted some trees around my house and am aiming at planting some more so that in some years to come, my farm will be well protected.
I am currently working with the team on briquettes, tree nurseries and the garden.
Our actions are mostly exciting, challenging and tiresome.
We are looking forward to having many more actions for this year’
